Talk: App Transformation with Containers
Talk Time: 12:10 - 12:55pm
Legacy apps weren't designed to run in modern distributed platforms like Docker. They have their own ideas about logging, configuration and health which don't translate to the world of containers and make transformation projects hard.
This session shows you how to bring your old apps into the modern world, and integrate them with Docker - without changing code. I'll cover patterns for all the core application concerns:
The sample apps will run .NET in Windows containers and Java in Linux containers, and will show you how to turn your existing apps into good Docker citizens.
Microsoft MVP | Pluralsight Author | Developer Advocate @Docker
I'm a Pluralsight Author, Microsoft MVP and Developer Advocate at Docker, Inc. I've been architecting and delivering successful solutions with Microsoft technologies since 2000, most recently Big Data and API implementations in Azure, and distributed applications with Docker.
Currently I'm interested the evolution of the Microsoft stack, exploring the great opportunities to modernize existing .NET Framework apps with Docker, and run them alongside new .NET Core apps in Windows and Linux containers.
I'm a regular presenter and workshop host at conferences. I've been fortunate to speak at NDC, DockerCon, SDD, DevSum, Container Camp and Future Decoded. You'll often see me at user groups too - Docker London, London DevOps and WinOps are my locals.
